Rukka is the nickname of the company's founder, the company started by manufacturing waterproofs for fishermen, and sailors before developing its motorcycle clothing range. Whilst Rukka is best known for its Gore-Tex 100% waterproof clothing their range has expanded to include specific outfits to function in distinct environments, hot or cold, rainy or sunny with various technological solutions for differing riding conditions. As a tribute to Rukka's heritage in sailing, the flags in the Rukka logo spell RUKKA in the international flag signal alphabet.
